New Delhi – British Airways has announced the reintroduction of First on flights from Mumbai to London Heathrow, marking the return of the airline’s most premium cabin to the region after nearly five years.

Mumbai will see the return of First on one of its three daily flights to London Heathrow, operating on its Boeing 787-9 fleet from 27 October 2025*. Customers will now be able to choose from four cabins, tailored to a variety of travel preferences, including First, Club World (business), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and World Traveller (economy).

With three daily flights already connecting Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to London Heathrow, the reintroduction of First now adds an elevated level of luxury and exclusivity for those wanting to travel in style on this popular route.

Sean Doyle, British Airways’ CEO and Chairman, said: “As the only UK-carrier to offer a First-class option, we are proud of our most luxurious cabin and remain fully committed to investing in it – both in terms of the service and the physical product.

“Many of our Mumbai-based customers have been asking for us to bring a First back to the route, particularly those in the Bollywood industry. We trialled in last summer and had a great response, so we are pleased to be able to meet this demand with a daily winter service to Heathrow.”

British Airways currently operates 56 flights a week from five cities in India, with three-weekly flights from Mumbai, double daily service from Delhi, and a daily flight from Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

More than 1,300 British Airways cabin crew have completed the airline’s First Service Specialist training programme designed to equip colleagues with the skills to deliver a seamless luxury end-to-end experience in the skies.

The airline also recently unveiled its new First cabin as part of its A380 retrofit plans, expected to take to the skies in 2026. British Airways also announced its new English Sparkling wine and Champagne offering earlier this year and became the first airline to offer prestige cuvée to customers in First.

British Airways is continuing to invest in its overall customer experience and has already rolled out over 900 initiatives as part of its £7billion transformation focus, from brand-new short-haul seats, free Wi-Fi messaging on board to refreshing its lounges across its global network.

*British Airways’ First cabin will be available on flights BA134 and BA135 from and to Mumbai over the winter schedule, subject to operational changes.
