New Delhi [India] – British Airways is proud to announce the launch of ‘Student Travel Assistance’, a dedicated service to support students travelling from all five Indian airports to London Heathrow this summer ready for when term-time begins.

British Airways is the only airline to offer this complimentary personalised service for students until end of October 2025, with a range of benefits including a dedicated check-in desk, wayfinding details through the airport, and transfer guidance on arrival at Heathrow Terminal 5.

Helen O’Connor, British Airways’ Regional General Manager, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific Airport, said: “We are proud to fly thousands of students around the world, ready for them to embark on their next adventure, and for some students, this is the first time they are travelling overseas.

“Our teams across both sides of the globe have worked incredibly hard to introduce our first-ever ‘Student Travel Assistance’ service, offering dedicated support to make every journey for students as seamless and reassuring as possible. We hope this makes them feel at ease from the moment they arrive to when they land in their destination, and we look forward to welcoming them on board.”

British Airways has a long-standing legacy of supporting Indian students and families over the years. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, over 1.33 million Indian students are pursuing higher education abroad as of January 2024**. While the UK remains a top destination due to strong academic and cultural ties, international student mobility from India has seen consistent growth over the past decade.

The initiative builds on British Airways’ broader efforts to support Indian travellers, with the launch of a ‘Meet and Assist’ service earlier this year, which offers in-person guidance in local Indian languages for customers who may need additional support navigating through the airport.

The launch of the student assisting helpdesk complements the airline’s wider customer investment strategy, which includes improvements to airport services, digital experiences, and refreshed onboard services.
