Kolkata- Metro Railway Celebrated 79^th Independence Day on 15.08.2025, Shri P Uday Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway unfurled the National Flag at Metro Rail Bhavan and inspected the parade of Metro RPF this morning.

In this address, General Manager spoke about the achievements of Metro Railway in various sections. He Has informed that very soon Metro will reach new destinations more people.

Shri Reddy highlighted the excellent performance of Metro Railway. It has carried 21.81 crore passengers during the period April, 2024 to March 2025 which int s 13.30% higher than the previous year. During the financial year 2025-26 (till July, 2025), Metro Railway has earned Rs. 124.21 crores which is 3.55% higher than the previous year’s figure. Apart from more and more Metro commuters have been using the digital payment mode which is helping them to purchase their tokens, Smart Cards, OR Code Based Tickets as well as recharge Smart Cards very easily by downloading ‘Amar Kolkata Metro’ from Google Play Store and App Store. Metro Railway digital passenger earnings during 2024-25 were Rs. 78.11 Crore, which has been 23.65% of its total passenger earnings Metro Railway authorities are working very hard to ensure maintenance of assets and improving safety, passenger amenities and reliability standards, General Manger added.

After the programme, New Entrance Lobby and Metro Family Tree at Metro Rail Bhavan were inaugurated in presence of Shri P Uday Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway, senior officials and staff.
